چکیده

Long-term reliability and manageability of high-end storage systems for scientific computing will become an increasingly important issue as disk-based storage systems grow to handle petabytes and, eventually, exabytes of data. Storage systems cannot simply be upgraded by replacing them; instead, they must grow over time. Managing and replacing the thousands of individual devices that make up such a system, marshaling the trillions of files stored in the system, and ensuring the security of the data they contain will pose significant challenges that must be solved to ensure that data stored in the system today can be found and used in 25 years.

Analyzing Impacts of FACTS Devices in Dealing with Short-Term and Long-Term Wind Turbine Faults

More than one hundred countries are using wind energy due to their easy implementation, cheap energy, and high energy efficiency. Implementation of FACTS devices in Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) has been dramatically improved due to cooperative and accurate performance of FACTS devices. However, dealing with wind turbine faults promptly is crucial. Short-term and long-term faults may ha...

The Fundamental Limit of Flash Random Write Performance: Understanding, Analysis and Performance Modelling

The understanding, analysis and modelling of the fundamental limit of the sustained random write performance and endurance of Flash solid state drives (SSDs) are critical for Flash SSD vendors and storage system designers and practitioners. This not only helps design high-performance Flash SSDs, but also dictates how Flash can be integrated into today’s memory and storage hierarchy. This paper ...

Security-Constrained Unit Commitment Considering Large-Scale Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) Integrated With Wind Power Generation

Environmental concerns and depletion of nonrenewable resources has made great interest towards renewable energy resources. Cleanness and high potential are factors that caused fast growth of wind energy. However, the stochastic nature of wind energy makes the presence of energy storage systems (ESS) in wind integrated power systems, inevitable. Due to capability of being used in large-scale sys...

Modeling and Simulation of Tape Libraries for Hierarchical Storage Systems

The variety of storage technologies results in deep storage hierarchies to be the only feasible choice to meet performance and cost requirements when handling vast amounts of data. Long-term storage systems employed by scientific users are mainly reliant on tape storage, as it remained the most costefficient option. Archival systems are often loosely integrated into the HPC storage infrastructu...
